Essie Zip Me Up

Sometimes I have a favourite shade sitting in my collection and I have no idea.

Back in August, Essie Canada sent me some Gel Couture polishes and this was one of them. I couldn't wait to try it! This pale satin mint is such a good summer shade, but I didn't end up getting the chance to wear it before Summer ended. It sat on my polish rack waiting to be tried. I didn't go near it during the Fall. Finally near the end of December I decided to make a switch up from all the dark burgundies I had been wearing and grabbed this. As soon as I put it on I fell in love!
This is a great polish for winter. It's a super pale, wintery white shade of pale green with very fine turquoise shimmer in it. It's so pretty! The shimmer isn't as noticeable on the nail as it is in the bottle, but it does give your finished mani a nice depth. It applies great and is opaque in 2 even coats.

Zip Me Up vs. Chillato vs. Absolutely Shore vs. Passport to Happiness

If you compare this Gel Couture to polishes in the regular Essie line, it comes closest to Absolutely Shore. Absolutely Shore has none of the shimmer and it has a touch more saturated green/grey pigment. Zip Me Up looks paler and brighter in comparison but it is quite close.

This satin minty shade felt great in the winter, will DEFINITELY look amazing in the Spring and will carry straight on into Summer. I'm already imagining it will look incredible on bronzey tanned skin! It's a super versatile shade with a great long wear formula. See? I told you. A favourite I never knew I had!

I'd love to see how this compares to some other pale greens! The first thing I thought when I saw the first picture was that it looks just like Absolutely Shore, but some of the other photos make it look a little more like Chillato. The shimmer and satin finish make it a bit more unique, but as a light-green-lover I would love to see how the base shade stacks up, especially with St Patrick's Day right around the corner!

Great idea! When I write a post about a gel couture I usually include comparisons to regular Essie's so I can't believe I forgot! Totally slipped my mind. The post is updated now and comes closest to Absolutely Shore although it's not exact.
