Fall 2015 Polish Picks

Fall is finally here and so are pumpkin spice lattes, warm scented candles, cute boots and gorgeous autumn nail polish hues. This may actually be my favourite time of the year to wear nail polish. I went a little overboard and had about 10 or 11 polishes picked out and swatched for this post, but then I went back to my picks from this summer and liked how I whittled it down to 6 MUST HAVE shades for the season. So that's what I decided to do again. Of course I will be wearing all of the new Fall collection shades, but if you took away my entire nail polish collection and told me I could only have 6 polishes for the entire season, I would pick these ones and wear them over and over again and be blissfully satisfied with my choices.
Left to Right: Take It Outside, Sew Psyched, Sable Collar, In the Lobby, Angora Cardi & With the Band

Grey

This is Take It Outside from last year's fall collection and I just absolutely love this shade. It is the perfect neutral. It's just a shade lighter than Essie's Chinchilly which everyone loves, but I like Take It Outside even better (of course Chinchilly is a great alternative if you can't find this shade). Just like I picked white and off-white in my Spring and Summer picks, this light grey shade hits the same satisfying notes for me except it's warmer, cozier and more colour appropriate for the season.

Marsala

Marsala was chosen as Pantone's colour of the year for 2015. Earlier this year, I really wasn't feeling this shade. My friend Austrian got this colour by Essie called Angora Cardi but at the time I was just 'meh' about it. Now that we are past Spring pastels and Summer brights, this colour is finally on my radar and I'm really diggin' it! Truth be told, I ran to the store and bought this colour this morning because I knew I was going to be posting my Fall picks today and it HAD to be included! (Note: This polish was hard to photograph and kept coming up brighter and more saturated no matter what I did. Just know that it's a bit more muted/greyer/dustier.)

Burgundy

Every fall and winter I wear burgundy like nobody's business! (I did a comparison of 5 Essie burgundy's here if you want to see it.) So of course I had to have a burgundy polish in my top 6 Fall polishes. I'm still loving Carry On from my friend Bree, and Bahama Mama is a MUST, but this year's burgundy polish from the 2015 Fall collection called In the Lobby has such a great formula! If you are a big fan of Bahama Mama, but hate that the formula is a thin and streaky 3 coater, then I highly suggest In the Lobby.

Cocoa Plum

This colour called Sable Collar came out in the Winter collection of 2013, and while I haven't worn it a whole lot, this season I can't get it out of my head! I keep reaching for this colour over and over again. I think it's the resemblance to burgundy, but also how it's kind of cocoa brown with fine red shimmer....it's just gorgeous! I have a full post dedicated to this polish if you want to check it out.

Khaki Green

This colour is called Sew Psyched and is on the permanent collection display. I always passed by it until a couple years ago when Fall rolled around and I decided on a whim to pick it up. I haven't looked back since! I bust it out every single Autumn and adore it just like I did when I first bought it.

Brick Red

I always love a good deep red in the Fall but this year's red from the Fall Collection is particularly fantastic. It's called With the Band and has this beautiful toasted spice thing going on. The formula is great too.

Those are my polish picks for the season and all six of them will be in heavy rotation. I know a lot of them are red or purple based, but I really love matching my nails to my lipstick and these colours make it so easy to do that! I just need to get myself a good marsala lipstick shade now ;)

What polishes/colours will you be wearing this Fall?
